FAQs
Who is eligible to run for a Senate seat?
Any full-time student who is a part of a specific constituency can run to represent that constituency. For example, if you are a Junior, in the College of Arts and Sciences, and living off campus - you would be eligible to run for either the Junior Class, College of Arts and Sciences, or Commuter seat.
What does running mean?
Running means that you are campaigning to represent the group that you are running for. Often, this involves talking informally and formally with the people that you would represent, learning about their needs, and discussing how you will make changes or improvements based on what is shared. This can also involve creating campaign materials - like palm cards, t-shirts, flyers, emails, etc. Candidates are able to spend money on their campaign items, but they may spend no more than $300. Spending money is not a mandatory part of campaigning, but whether you spend money or not, you must submit a financial form to the Elections Commission by 10am on Wednesday, September 26.
